The trip flies into Villahermosa (VSA) or Tuxtla (TGM), then uses ADO first-class buses and chartered cars to reach Palenque's jungle site and its museum, the Misol-Ha waterfall, and the highland town…
Land at VSA, clear immigration and collect bags; the airport is small and quick to exit. Change a little cash for bus fares and roadside stops, as card machines are patchy in the countryside.
Drive or take an ADO bus east through green ranch land to Palenque, arriving before dark. Check in at a lodge on the road to the ruins and ask about early transport to the site for the morning.

Fly into Villahermosa or Tuxtla Gutierrez, then use ADO first-class buses and short chartered cars for the final legs. Palenque, Misol-Ha and San Cristobal are linked by road, with the mountain stretch winding and slow. Book bus seats a day ahead and allow half a day for transfers.
November to April is the safer window, when jungle roads to Palenque and Misol-Ha are usually passable. May to October brings heavy rain, slippery trails and occasional road closures in the highlands. If you travel then, keep plans flexible and check local road conditions before each leg.
Evenings in San Cristobal turn cool, so pack a warm layer and a light rain shell alongside jungle clothing for Palenque. Bring insect repellent for the Palenque and Misol-Ha days, sturdy shoes for wet steps, and cash for small entries and village stops where cards are not accepted.
This route runs about $1,200-1,790 (roughly EUR 1,040-1,560) per person excluding international flights. That covers simple hotels, ADO bus tickets, chartered cars and ruin entries. Food and local guides are inexpensive; the main variable is how many private transfers you add between Palenque and San Cristobal.
