Arrive in Munich for Oktoberfest tents or the Hofbräuhaus classic, take trains to Regensburg for old-town beer gardens, then Bamberg for its smoked Rauchbier breweries, before heading to Frankfurt for…
Take the S1 or S8 from MUC into Munich in about 40 minutes, adding the airport surcharge on the ticket. Check in, then walk to Marienplatz for a first look at the old town.
Browse the Viktualienmarkt stalls for pretzels, radishes, cheese and sausages, then sit at the market beer garden. Stalls close around 18:00, so arrive before late afternoon.
Eat Weißwurst with sweet mustard and a pretzel at a Munich brewery, or choose roast pork if you prefer a hot meal. Most kitchens close by 22:00; the sausage is traditionally a morning dish.

Entry to the Oktoberfest grounds is free, but tables inside the big tents require reservations, often booked months ahead. Weekday afternoons are the easiest time to find space without one. Confirm the year's festival dates and tent rules before planning the Munich days.
Direct regional and ICE trains link Munich and Regensburg in about an hour and a half, and Regensburg to Bamberg with a change. A regional day ticket can cut costs on slower services. Book seat reservations if you travel at Oktoberfest or on weekends.
Late September to early October covers Oktoberfest, while April to June brings beer-garden weather with fewer crowds. July and August are lively but busy and pricier. Winter is quiet and good for brewery visits, though some gardens close.
Plan around $1,050-1,500 (about EUR 910-1,300) per person excluding international flights. That covers mid-range hotels, train tickets, brewery and beer-garden meals and a few tastings. Oktoberfest weeks push hotel rates up sharply, so book early.
