Open in Frankfurt, take the DB train to Baden-Baden, then drive or rail through the Black Forest to Lake Titisee, the Triberg waterfalls and Schluchsee, before moving to Munich for the Zugspitze summi…
Take the S8 or S9 from FRA into Frankfurt in 15 minutes, then check in near the Hauptbahnhof. A Frankfurt day ticket covers trams and the U-Bahn if you plan to explore.
Walk the Main riverfront from the Eiserner Steg bridge to the Museumsufer, with skyline views across the water. The path is flat and busy with cyclists, so keep to the pedestrian side.
Try Frankfurt green sauce with boiled eggs and potatoes at a Sachsenhausen tavern, paired with Apfelwein. Most taverns serve until 22:00 and fill up after 19:00 on weekends.

Trains reach Baden-Baden, Freiburg and Titisee, with buses covering Schluchsee and Triberg, but a car makes the lake and waterfall stops much easier. Mountain roads can be slow in rain or snow. Compare a short rental with rail passes for your dates.
The Zugspitze cable car gives summit views but closes in high wind, so check the webcam and status before going. Königssee offers an electric boat to Salet and a walk to Obersee, which is calmer in poor weather. Book boat slots ahead in summer.
May to September offers green trails, alpine flowers and open cable cars, with June and September the quietest. July and August are busiest. Snow can linger at altitude into May, and some mountain roads and lifts shut from late October.
Allow roughly $1,350-1,940 (about EUR 1,170-1,690) per person excluding international flights. That covers mid-range hotels, rail or car costs, lake boats and cable cars. Add extra for spa entry in Baden-Baden or a guided mountain day.
