Take the Malpensa Express to Milano Centrale and change to the train south. Validate the airport train ticket, and allow at least 30 minutes between trains.
Ride the regional train to Peschiera del Garda on the lake's southern shore. Sit on the right for the first views of the water, and keep the ticket for the barrier.
Walk the lakefront and the old fort walls at an easy pace. The promenade is flat and stroller-friendly, and there are gelato stands near the harbour.

Yes. Gardaland has a separate children's area with gentler rides, plus height rules posted for each attraction so you can plan. One adult can manage a single child across the park, though some rides require an adult companion. Check the park calendar for low-season weekday openings, which are quieter than weekends.
The regional train is the easiest way to hop between Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore; a day pass covers unlimited rides. Boats link several villages in calm weather and are gentler than the crowded trains. Corniglia sits on a hill with a long stair climb from the station, so skip it with tired legs.
Several sections, including parts of the Sentiero Azzurro, require a Cinque Terre Card, sold at park info points and some stations; the card also covers train travel on the local line. Trails vary from flat paved paths to steep stone steps. Choose short, well-maintained stretches for children and check closure notices, since landslides shut routes.
April to June and September to October bring short park queues, warm but not scorching weather and open coastal trails. July and August mean school-holiday crowds, peak hotel rates on Lake Garda and heat on exposed paths. Check Gardaland's seasonal calendar, since the park does not operate daily year-round.
