Arrive in Frankfurt, head to Rüdesheim for vineyard walks and tastings, cruise the Rhine to Koblenz and the Deutsches Eck, then cross to the Mosel Valley for Riesling at Traben-Trarbach, before return…
Take the S8 or S9 from FRA into Frankfurt in 15 minutes, then walk to your hotel near the Hauptbahnhof. A Frankfurt day ticket also covers trams and the U-Bahn.
Walk the rebuilt Altstadt around Römerberg, then follow the Main promenade past the Eiserner Steg bridge. The riverside path is flat and a good place to watch rowers at dusk.
Eat in Sachsenhausen at a traditional Apfelwein tavern, ordering the cider with green sauce and potatoes. Taverns fill after 19:00 on weekends, so book a table or arrive early.

Late September and October are harvest time, when Federweisser and new-wine festivals appear in Rüdesheim and along the Mosel. Book rooms early for festival weekends. June to August is quieter in the vineyards but busier with river cruises; winter closes many tasting rooms.
Trains run along both banks of the Rhine, linking Frankfurt, Rüdesheim, Koblenz and Cochem, with Mosel services continuing to Traben-Trarbach. The KD cruise is a seasonal alternative between Rüdesheim and Koblenz. Check connections at Koblenz, where the lines meet.
Yes, small family estates often need advance notice, particularly during harvest and at weekends. Ask whether tastings include a walk through the vines and whether transport back is arranged. Large riverside wine houses usually accept walk-ins but charge for sampler flights.
Expect about $900-1,350 (roughly EUR 780-1,170) per person excluding international flights. That covers mid-range guesthouses, train fares, the KD cruise and several tastings. Bottles you ship home, taxis between villages and upgraded dinners are extra.
