Arrive and open with the Peak night view and Lan Kwai Fong. Day two is a Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront day, ending at Temple Street for claypot rice. Day three catches the Symphony of Lights at 8pm before…
The train reaches Hong Kong Station in 24 minutes for about HK$115, and from there it is a short walk or taxi to a Central hotel. Top up the Octopus card for late-night trams and convenience stores.
Ride the tram from Garden Road just before sunset to catch both the daylight view and the lights coming on. The terrace is windy after dark; bring a light layer even in summer and book the return online.
Start on Wyndham Street and work down into the Lan Kwai Fong lanes; happy hours end around 21:00, so early drinks cost less. Many bars ask for ID, and the legal drinking age is 18.

October to March gives cool, dry evenings that make rooftop bars, harbour walks and Temple Street comfortable. December and January are the coldest but still mild at 12-20°C, so bring a light jacket. Summer evenings are hot, sticky and often wet, which pushes the crowd indoors to Lan Kwai Fong and Tsim Sha Tsui bars rather than street stalls.
MTR services usually stop around midnight to 1am, with later trains on Friday and Saturday nights on some lines, so check the last train for your route before a late dinner. After that, taxis and ride-hailing apps cover the city, and night buses run on major corridors. Keep some cash for taxis and note your hotel's English address.
Most Lan Kwai Fong bars are casual, and smart-casual is enough for the vast majority. The exception is hotel sky bars and higher-end clubs, which often turn away shorts, sandals and sportswear, especially for men. Carry a light layer for air-conditioned venues, and check a venue's social page before a big night if you are unsure.
The show runs nightly at 8pm and lasts about 10 minutes, with the best free views from the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront near the Avenue of Stars or from a harbour cruise. Arrive 20-30 minutes early for a railing spot, and note that the soundtrack is broadcast on the promenade. On cloudy evenings the laser effects are dimmed or cancelled.
