Cover shoulders and knees in Polish churches, including St Mary's, Wawel Cathedral and St John's. The Wieliczka mine stays around 14 C year-round and involves stairs and long tunnels, so bring a jacket and comfortable shoes. In summer, carry a light layer for cool church interiors and the mine.
May through September is the most comfortable window for church-hopping in Warsaw and Krakow, with mild weather and long daylight. The Wieliczka mine is temperate inside whatever the season, so it works as a cold-weather option too. December adds Christmas services but very short days.
It depends on your passport. US, UK, Canadian, Australian and Japanese visitors usually enter Schengen visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180. Chinese and some other passport holders must obtain a Schengen short-stay visa beforehand. Check Poland's consular site for your nationality and current ETIAS guidance.
Trains run Warsaw to Krakow in about 2.5 to 3 hours. Wawel is a short walk from Krakow's old town. For Wieliczka, take the local train or a bus from central Krakow, roughly 30 to 40 minutes, then follow signs to the mine entrance; book the guided chapel route ahead in summer.
