Fly into KLIA and open with the Petronas Towers skyline. Day two is Batu Caves' rainbow steps and Merdeka Square, then a short flight to Penang for George Town's street art and a hawker food day. Day…
Clear immigration at Kuala Lumpur International, then take the non-stop KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral in 28 minutes. Tickets cost about 55 ringgit; trains leave every 15 to 20 minutes and the machines take cards.
Circle the lake at KLCC Park as the light fades, with the twin towers reflected in the water. The path is free and lit after dark; keep bags zipped in the evening crowds and carry water.
Watch the free Lake Symphony fountain and light show on the KLCC esplanade, staged several times each evening from 20:00. Claim a spot by the rail early, and skip the observation deck unless you booked a timed slot.

Visa rules depend on your passport. Many Western passports get visa-free entry for short visits, but confirm the current terms in the Malaysia visa section before booking. Every traveller must also submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online shortly before arrival, and immigration checks passport validity and onward travel at KLIA.
Book both domestic legs before you travel rather than on the day. AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines fly KLIA to Penang and Penang to Langkawi in about an hour each, and morning departures leave the afternoon free. Fares climb in the December-February and June-August peaks, so reserve early for those months.
November to March keeps the west coast driest, which suits Langkawi's beaches and Penang's street-art walks. September to November brings short, heavy afternoon showers that usually clear within an hour. Kuala Lumpur runs 25-32C all year with high humidity, so pack light clothing and a rain jacket whenever you go.
Plan about $900-1,350 per person excluding international flights, based on comfort hotels and the three domestic flights between KLIA, Penang and Langkawi. That does not include the Petronas skybridge, the Langkawi cable car, the island-hopping tour or meals. Grab rides cover city transfers cheaply in all three places.
