The trip flies into Zagreb (ZAG), takes a direct 2.5–3 hour bus to Plitvice, and spends two full days walking the upper and lower lakes — the boardwalks between terraced lakes and the Skradski Buk wat…
The Pleso Prijevoz shuttle runs from ZAG arrivals to the main bus station in about 30 minutes for a small fare. Buy the ticket inside the terminal; the stop sits at the door and luggage goes underneath.
Coaches to the lakes leave several times a day and stop at Entrance 1 on request, so tell the driver when boarding. Book online in summer and check whether your stop is Entrance 1 or 2, which are 4 km apart.
From most guesthouses near Entrance 1, a short path leads to the rim above the Korana river gorge. No ticket is needed for this orientation walk, and the light is best in the late afternoon.

Yes. Plitvice uses timed-entry tickets sold on the national park's official website, and summer and autumn slots sell out, often days ahead. Book the entry hour you want and arrive early, since tickets are checked at the gate. Confirm current opening hours and which entrances are open on the park site before you travel.
Late spring and autumn are strongest: May and June bring high water and green forest, and September and October add colour with fewer visitors. July and August are warm but busiest and can be drier. Winter is quiet and can freeze the waterfalls, but some paths and boat services close, so check before booking.
Direct buses from Zagreb's main bus station reach the park entrances in roughly two and a half to three hours. Services run several times a day, more often in summer. Book a seat in peak season, confirm which entrance your hotel is near, and check the last return bus before planning a late walk.
The wooden boardwalks stay wet from spray, so wear shoes with real grip and avoid smooth soles or flip-flops. Bring a light rain layer, water and sun protection, since shade is patchy on the open lakes. Swimming and feeding the fish are not allowed, and the park asks visitors to stay on marked paths.
