The trip flies into Dubrovnik (DBV) and stays inside walking distance of the old town. Days cover the full walls circuit, the Mt Srd cable-car viewpoint, a morning on Lokrum island for the filming sit…
The airport shuttle meets most arrivals and drops at the cable car station by Pile Gate in about 30 minutes. Buy the ticket from the driver or at the desk in arrivals; taxis into the old town cost far more.
Enter at Pile and follow the polished limestone Stradun past Onofrio's Great Fountain to the bell tower, then slip into the side lanes where the crowds thin out. The street is car-free and lit after dark.
Pick a konoba in the lanes off Prijeko Street for Dalmatian ham, cheese and grilled squid, and book if you want a table outside. Restaurant prices inside the walls are highest close to the Stradun.

Yes, the full walls circuit is ticketed, and a Dubrovnik Pass bundles wall entry with several museums and city bus travel. Buy online or at the wall entrances and keep the ticket. The circuit takes over two hours with almost no shade, so start early or late and carry water, especially in summer.
Go at opening time or in the last couple of hours before closing, when cruise groups are thinner and the light is softer. May, June and September are far calmer than July and August, when midday heat and ship crowds peak. Check the wall's seasonal opening hours before planning a sunset circuit.
A short ferry leaves from the old town harbour near the Ploce gate and runs frequently in season. Lokrum is a nature reserve with a separate entry fee, and the island holds the Game of Thrones iron throne and monastery ruins. Confirm the last boat back, and note that some paths are rocky.
Budget around $1,790-2,690 (about EUR 1,560-2,340) per person for comfortable hotels near the old town, the Dubrovnik Pass, cable car and meals, excluding flights. Staying inside the walls costs more than Lapad or Gruz. July and August raise room rates sharply, while May, June and September are cheaper and cooler.
